LUSAKA - Green Party leader Peter Sinkamba has accused the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) of mishandling the August 13 general election following an increase in electoral petitions.
Speaking in an interview, Mr. Sinkamba said the numerous election petitions, most of which he said have arisen from the ruling party, indicate what he described as massive irregularities in the manner the elections were conducted.
He argued that the alleged irregularities could not be attributed to the opposition but instead stemmed from the Government, particularly in the way preparations for the elections were handled from the beginning.
Meanwhile, State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka has maintained that the August 13 general election was free and fair.
Mr. Hamasaka said the election could not be compared to either the 2021 general election or the 2016 polls.
