LUSAKA - The National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) has collected K2.1 billion in toll revenue between January and June 2026, with the funds being channelled towards road infrastructure projects and related activities across the country.
NRFA Public Relations Manager Alphonsius Hamachila said the agency has already disbursed the revenue to support various road projects nationwide.
Mr. Hamachila said K1.3 billion of the total revenue was collected from the agency's 26 toll gates, while K874 million was generated from ports of entry.
In an interview with ZNBC News, he also revealed that the agency collected K4.8 million through its newly introduced mobile money toll payment platform.
Mr. Hamachila encouraged motorists to embrace cashless payment systems, saying digital payment platforms provide a faster, safer and more efficient way of paying toll fees while improving service delivery.
Meanwhile, he disclosed that the NRFA has saved more than K600 million on road projects between 2011 and 2026 through strengthened monitoring and evaluation systems.
Mr. Hamachila said the savings have been achieved through enhanced oversight, rigorous monitoring of road projects and improved scrutiny of interim payment certificates.
