LUSAKA - Two UPND parliamentary candidates who lost in the Milanzi and Chitambo constituencies have petitioned the election results in the Lusaka High Court, alleging electoral malpractices and misconduct.
In Milanzi Constituency, UPND candidate Tylad Lungu has challenged the election of independent candidate Lumankio Zulu, alleging that the election was marred by widespread illegal practices and other misconduct.
Mr Lungu polled 4,424 votes, while Mr Zulu garnered 5,004 votes and was declared the winner.
Meanwhile, Chitambo parliamentary candidate Remember Mutale has also petitioned the election results, alleging that the respondent engaged in corrupt practices during the election.
Mr Mutale is seeking an order for the scrutiny and recount of ballots cast at all polling stations in the constituency.
He is further seeking a declaration that the election of Nelson Kabanda as Member of Parliament is null and void.
Mr Mutale polled 7,662 votes, while Mr Kabanda secured 7,819 votes, according to the results.
